Julz Atwood

I first fell in love with yoga as a young teenager, and have never looked back! I attended my first
Hatha yoga classes in a tiny, incensed, rainbow-mandala-tapestried backroom of a
metaphysical shop in Fresno, CA (shoutout Brass Unicorn!). In my early twenties, I briefly
worked in a Bikram yoga studio, Blue Moon Yoga, as a karma cleaner while simultaneously practicing community
yoga at the Fresno Retired Teachers Education Center (RTEC). After about a year of attending
classes at RTEC several times each week, I became a volunteer Hatha yoga teacher there. I
didn’t have prior formal training, just a deep love of yoga and lots and lots of hours on the mat. I
was delighted to help provide accessible, low- and no-cost yoga to our community in that space.

I found Firelight shortly after moving to Portland in September 2017, and am thrilled to see how
this wonderful studio and community have blossomed over the years. I joined the team as
Studio Manager in June 2023, and am grateful to have been welcomed in by this very special
group of people. It is a joy to be here and I look forward to growing with our community, both on
and off the mat!
