Coming Together: Our Community in Action
We believe in the power of community — showing up for each other, lifting each other up, and standing together in challenging times. Coming together is, in itself, an act of resistance: a way to respond to uncertainty and struggle with compassion, connection, and care. This November, we’re inviting our Firelight community to come together in multiple ways to support those who need it most.
1. Food Drive in Our Lobby
We’re hosting a food drive in our lobby in support of the Sunshine Division’s Food Bank and home deliveries. Please bring nonperishable and unexpired food to the barrel in our lobby. Every contribution helps provide essential nourishment to members of our community who need it most.
2. Restorative Sound Bath – $10 for Those Needing Extra Support
Firelight wants to offer a moment of stress release and self-care to anyone in our community who is struggling, whether on SNAP benefits or using other forms of assistance. Our Restorative Sound Bath on November 16 is open to all, but if you or someone you know could use a little extra support, use promo code SUPPORT10 at checkout to attend for just $10. If you’re able to pay the full price, thank you — your support helps us make this experience accessible to those who need the discount most.
3. Flow for a Cause – Hot FLY Classes
From November 9–15, every Hot FLY class will benefit the Equitable Giving Circle. Firelight will be donating all revenue from Hot FLY attendance during this week. The more you flow with us in Hot FLY this week, the more we give — so show up, move with purpose, and help support equity and community care right here at home.
Update: We donated a total of $2189.40 to Equitable Giving Circle from our Hot FLY class revenue Nov 9 -15! Thank you!!
4. Looking Ahead: December Giving
We’re already planning for December and our annual “Season of Giving Challenge.” This year, we’ll be supporting Immigration Counseling Service, Oregon’s oldest independent nonprofit immigration law firm. Challenge details coming soon!
Thank You, Firelight Community
We are so grateful to our students, staff, and friends for showing up and supporting these initiatives. Your presence, your generosity, and your intention to care for others make a real difference. By coming together, we demonstrate that community, compassion, and action are powerful forms of resistance — and together, we can help those who need it most right now.
