How it started, how it’s going and what Crystal wants you to know.
Long-time Firelight Yoga Member, Crystal, talks about her yoga journey.
“When I started just focusing on just me and my mat, it didn’t matter what everyone else was doing around me.”
“Yoga has definitely reminded me that I’m enough… in any space.”
– Crystal B.
Gentle Flow and Deep Stretch classes are a great place to start! If you know you want to try heated classes, please work up to Sculpt and Power classes. We recommend starting out with Hot Gentle Flow or even Hot Vinyasa.
We recommend arriving 15 min. before class so there is time to meet the teacher and receive a short studio tour without feeling rushed. It’s also nice to have time to lay down your mat, gather any needed props and relax a bit before class begins! (Our front door opens 15 minutes before class start time and locks when classes begin.) Give yourself time to navigate traffic and parking if applicable. If you are late for class, we will not be able to allow you into the yoga room out of consideration for the teacher and fellow yogis.
It will save time at check-in if you have your client account created (which is done at the time you purchase the intro special) AND fill out the liability waiver HERE.
We also encourage you to come to class hydrated, especially if you are taking a hot class, and eat a light meal 2+ hours before your practice.
If Driving: Parking is all free, street parking in the neighborhood. Please do not park in the parking lot behind the building. These spots are reserved for condo owners only. You may be towed if you park there. Please also be mindful that you are not blocking the driveways of our neighbors. Give yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk 1-2 blocks to the studio front entrance.
If Biking: We highly recommend locking your bike at the back of the building. There is a covered bike rack at the rear condo entrance with a security camera recording 24/7. After parking your bike here, you will need to walk around the building to our front entrance. This may not be as convenient as the front bike rack, but it is more secure and out of the elements.
If taking public transit: The MAX yellow line and Bus #72 stop right outside our studio’s front door!
Bring your yoga mat if you have one and a water bottle. (We rent and sell yoga mats too.) There are filtered water spigots in all of our bathrooms (Women’s, Men’s and Gender Neutral) to refill your water bottle, but we also have water bottles for sale if needed.
A towel to cover your yoga mat is recommended if you are taking a heated class. This will help prevent slipping as the sweat starts to drip! Mat towels can be rented or purchased at the studio as well.
Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that you can move freely in. Depending on the class, you may sweat quite a bit!
