Studio ManagerI was first introduced to yoga as a kid when my mom began her practice and wanted to share the passion she had for it with me and my brother. I sporadically took various youth yoga classes growing up and would practice with my mom at her studio whenever I was home from college, but it wasn’t until after I graduated that I discovered my own passion for it. I had developed tension migraines that worsened for over a year and I finally had to take a break from everything I was doing to get help. I quit my job and went back home to seek treatment, and my specialist recommended I get back into yoga. For three months I went to classes 6 or 7 days a week and I was surprised at how quickly I became addicted – I simply could not live without this practice.
Fast forward a couple of years and I decided to move to Australia for a year, which is a pretty big change and naturally triggered some anxiety, so I immediately went in search of the nearest yoga studio and took my first hot class. I never knew I could sweat so much but man was I hooked! When I got back to Portland in 2019 I was living in St John’s and discovered Firelight in my search for a nearby studio with hot and unheated class options. This studio became my home away from home and even though I have moved multiple times since, I have always found a way to keep Firelight and yoga in my life. I am beyond honored to now get to work and practice here, and I can’t wait to see everyone on their mats!
